Don’t Get Comfortable

Don’t Get Comfortable

This phrase will impact every single aspect of your life. Getting comfortable in any area of your life opens up the doors for mediocrity. If you are comfortable with your environment, change it. If you are comfortable with the goals you have achieved in life, change it. If you are comfortable with the current level of success you have achieved, change it. If you are comfortable with your current level of fitness and health, change it. Life is a constant game of pushing yourself to be better each and everyday. Even if it is just one percent better always push to be better. Do you think people who have achieved high levels of success (however you define success) did so by becoming comfortable? Every person you look up to, every single one of the greats that have made a name for themselves did so by pushing their limits.
This can be achieved in all areas of life. Trust me, I have plenty to work on myself but the message is worth spreading. If you are comfortable in your current environment (city, town, etc.) CHANGE IT. Move to a new city that brings new opportunities and new people and new ideas. The idea of moving and uprooting may cause you to feel nervous but that’s exactly the point I am pushing here. You want to feel at risk, you want to feel on the edge, and you want to be uncomfortable. If you are comfortable with the goals you have set and achieved for yourself, CHANGE IT. Your goals should make you jump out of bed in the morning earlier than anyone else. Your goals should make you worry. Your goals should be so big that they entice ridicule. If you are comfortable with your current level of success, CHANGE IT. Read 10 more pages a day, listen to a podcast or an audio book instead of the radio. Sign up for seminars and webinars that put a crunch on your time schedule. Do the things you have to do so you can achieve the things that you want to achieve. Successful people do the things that unsuccessful people will not. And lastly, if you are comfortable with your current level of fitness, CHANGE IT. Push yourself harder in the gym each and every time. Do not get comfortable with a workout and just breeze through it. No one has ever left the gym and said, “I sure am glad I took it easy today.” Push harder, do one more burpee, extend that cardio for 1 more minute, add 5 pounds to your last set. GET UNCOMFORTABLE.
Apply this concept to every area in your life and I assure you that you will wake up feeling more alive, feeling more accomplished, and feeling more productive every singe day. Every single person you know who has achieved success has the same exact amount of time in a day as you and I do. If you want to achieve great things in life, push yourself, improve, and do more each and every day. Get uncomfortable and get results.
